2024 TEMA Foundation Scholarship Opportunity

The TEMA Foundation provides educational opportunities in the energy management field. Currently, scholarship applications open and close in the fall. Open to high school seniors graduating in the spring of the coming year, it is open to those seeking post-secondary education in a STEM related field.

THE PROGRAM EXPERIENCE

The Ricky Shelton Scholarship Program is a post-secondary scholarship program available to high school seniors with financial need who seek to attend a college, junior college, technical or trade school, pursuing education in a STEM related field. Each Ricky Shelton Scholarship recipient has access to financial support for the first year of pos-secondary education, a TEMA student membership through four consecutive years of post-secondary education, and access to a thriving network of energy managers. As part of their scholarship, recipients may:

• Receive a scholarship that will fund a portion of their educational costs, including tuition, room and board, books, school and rooming supplies, and other required fees for the period required to complete the post-secondary program. The award amount of the Ricky Shelton scholarship is $1,000.
• Pursue an area of study related to the STEM field
• Be eligible for opportunities to engage with the TEMA network at meetings, events, and virtually

ELIGIBILITY

Ricky Shelton Scholarship recipients will be selected from states where TEMA has active chapters (Texas and New Mexico): At a minimum, students must:

• Complete high school, graduating in the spring of 2025
• Pursue post-secondary education in a STEM related field at a college, junior college, technical or trade school
• Earn a cumulative GPA of 2.5 GPA or higher in high school
• Demonstrate unmet financial need
• Reside in Texas or New Mexico, where TEMA has active chapters
• Family members of the TEMA Foundation Board of Directors, TEMA Board of Directors, or TEMA staff are not eligible

APPLICATION PROCESS

• Opens September 3, 2024
• Confirm your eligibility
• Submit your application by October 4, 2024
• Submissions reviewed by the TEMA Foundation Board of Directors to confirm eligibility and select one recipient October 7 - 11, 2024
• Notification late October 2024

You can donate to the TEMA Foundation to help energy managers within public facilities expand the profession, improve building operations, and conserve energy. We offer diverse programs that bring those is all areas of the profession together to learn and grow. 

Your contribution will help to take the profession of energy management to the next level.

Funds raised from the 2024 Golf Tournament raffle and gaming improvement sales go towards the Ricky Shelton Scholarship Fund. If interested, see the tournament website for more information.

TEMA Foundation Golf Tournament

The tournament will be played in a four-person scramble format. Shotgun start will be at 8:00 am, after registration, breakfast, and instructions.

Fee includes: green fees, cart, range balls, breakfast, lunch, and prizes.
