Bio

Glen Rhoden is an Energy Manager with over 30 years of experience in the K-12 sector in Texas. Before retiring as Energy and Sustainability Manager at the Houston Independent School District (HISD)—the largest independent school district in Texas—he served as Energy Manager for Cypress Fairbanks Independent School District (ISD) where he was employed for 21 years.

Glen holds an HVAC degree (AAS) from San Jacinto College and a strong background in industrial refrigeration, HVAC systems, and building controls. He worked at Cypress Fairbanks ISD from 1992 until he transitioned to HISD in February 2013. After returning to work in 2016, he was Assistant Maintenance Director, overseeing Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) operations and Energy Management at Round Rock ISD. In March 2023, Glen accepted the role of Energy Manager for Harris County within the Office of County Administration.

Glen is an Accredited Texas Energy Manager (ATEM) through the Texas Energy Managers Association (TEMA). He was a founding member of TEMA and the Gulf Coast Energy Managers Association, now TEMA's Gulf Coast Regional Chapter. He served as the State Board President of TEMA from 2009 to 2011 and held the position of Immediate Past President from 2011 to 2013. More recently, Glen was the Chapter Representative for the Central Texas TEMA Chapter on the State Board. In recognition of his contributions, he received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the Texas Energy Summit in 2018, a conference hosted by the Energy Systems Lab at Texas A&M. In 2023, he was honored with the Energy Manager of the Year award at the annual Texas Energy Managers Association Conference.
