2025 TEMA Foundation Scholarship Opportunity

The TEMA Foundation provides educational opportunities in the energy management field. In the fall of 2024 the Foundation offered its inaugural round of scholarships for high school seniors graduating in 2025. Moving to a Spring application timeframe, the Foundation is opening another round of scholarship opportunities now. Open to high school seniors the scholarship is for those seeking post-secondary education in a STEM related field.

THE PROGRAM EXPERIENCE

The Ricky Shelton Scholarship Program is a post-secondary scholarship program available to high school seniors with financial need who seek to attend a college, junior college, technical or trade school, pursuing an education in a STEM related field. Each Ricky Shelton Scholarship recipient has access to financial support for the first year of post-secondary education, a TEMA student membership through four consecutive years of post-secondary education, and access to a thriving network of energy managers. As part of their scholarship, recipients may:

  • Receive a scholarship that will fund a portion of their educational costs, including tuition, room and board, books, school and rooming supplies, and other required fees for the period required to complete the post-secondary program. The award amount of the Ricky Shelton scholarship is $1,500.
  • Pursue an area of study related to the STEM field
  • Be eligible for opportunities to engage with the TEMA network at meetings, events, and virtually

APPLICATION PROCESS

  • Opens March 3, 2025
  • Confirm your eligibility
  • Submit your application by April 4, 2025
  • Submissions reviewed by the TEMA Foundation Board of Directors to confirm eligibility and select one recipient April 7 - 11, 2025
  • Notification week of April 21, 2025

ELIGIBILITY

Ricky Shelton Scholarship recipients will be selected from states where TEMA has active chapters (Texas and New Mexico): At a minimum, students must:

  • Complete high school, graduating in the spring of 2025
  • Pursue post-secondary education in a STEM related field at a college, junior college, technical or trade school
  • Earn a cumulative GPA of 2.5 GPA or higher in high school
  • Demonstrate unmet financial need
  • Reside in Texas or New Mexico, where TEMA has active chapters
  • Family members of the TEMA Foundation Board of Directors, TEMA Board of Directors, or TEMA staff are not eligible
